Abstract:

The drawing of the architect overcomes his representative character to get to formalize a drawing of constructed intentions. The work of design based on graphic design has been enriched with the technical and conceptual advances that the extension of the graphic as a mode and tool of thought, has been creating.

Digital tools allow understanding, devising and expressing architecture in an increasingly ambitious way. The results that these new tools allow are wide and varied. The dialectic between figuration and abstraction in the drawings and models along the process of ideation, is the key to its potentiality. It is essential to analyze and assume the transformations generated by the drawing and graphic ideation tools used in the processes of understanding, representation and configuration of the architectural space.

In architecture, in the analogical environment information was manifested basically only through the visual perception of the form, while in the digital one, the information is extended through the interaction of different types of perceptions: visual, auditory, tactile.

The architect's language understood as a result of reflections and phenomenological experiences rather than mechanisms of a linguistic type, can not be understood as immutable and it is precisely the formal experimentation itself, one of the keys to its evolution. This is a key factor when considering the importance of reflection on the graphic nature of architecture.
